In 2004, in cooperation with Sebring Regional Airport Executive Director, Mike Willingham, the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo showcasing Light-Sport Aircraft took place in Sebring, FL. This year will mark the eighth annual U.S. Sport Aviation Expo. This Light Sport Aviation Expo has become a must-go to event for aviation enthusiasts.
The event has continued to improve and grow every year with more and more exhibitors and attendees. EXPO has grown to over 200 area volunteers orchestrating the event for over 14,000 attendees last year.
New aircraft types, new models, new engines, propellers and other associated new aviation items have been introduced at Expo every year since its inception. In 2008 and 2009, Cessna, Cirrus, Gobosh, Flight Design, ParadiselUSA, Urban Air, X-Air, RANS, Inc., and Tecnam introduced new aircraft or new aircraft designs.
In 2011, over 180 exhibitors traveled from the U.S. and as far away as Africa, China, Romania, New Zealand, Australia, Italy and the Czech Republic to attend. 30% of the attendees came from outside of Florida. The Expo not only brings economic development to the airport and community, but also brings together light-sport aircraft leaders, worldwide, to promote their aircraft and associated products to a rapidly growing select group of like-minded professionals in this specialized LSA field. There is no other show like this in the United States.
